Wide roof overhangs
The wide roof overhangs of the gable and eaves of your HUF house offer protection from the weather and sun while accentuating the prestigious, open nature of the classic timber-frame architecture.
Verge and eaves are given fascia made of high-quality laminated timber. The underside of the roof overhang is designed with white-varnished tongue-and-groove formwork in Nordic spruce. Verge and eave overhangs are roughly 1.50 m; in monopitch roofs the roof overhang at the gable end is roughly 1.20 m.
The HUF roof is also fully thermally insulated and has an outstanding U-value of 0.15 W/m²K!
Control lighting at the push of a button
The entire glass facade on the ground floor with clerestory is equipped with electrically powered external Venetian blinds. The clerestory above closed wall panels can be fitted with external blinds if required. The moving horizontal slats guarantee flexible protection from the sun that can be adjusted to suit any time of day or season. The slats have a width of 80 mm, slat colour: silver.
The external blinds provide privacy and glare protection, but above all shade from the sun. With its outstanding light-directing and light-adjusting abilities, the external blinds support the overall architectural appearance in which light is a constantly changing and living design element.
A great outlook
In the HUF house ART series, the balconies of your home are manufactured from durable laminated timber with a rainproof design. This type of structure also protects the facade of the house from weather damage. Any rainwater that falls is drained away through aluminium downpipes.
The design of the balcony systems features a quiet, elegant underside that underpins the harmonic appearance of the HUF architecture.
A clean aesthetic for indoors
Plastered internal walls
In your HUF house, the visible post-and-beam structure is manufactured from laminated timber. All inner walls on the ground and top floors go all the way to the ceiling or roof. For the inside walls, we use exclusively a wood fibre insulation material rather than mineral wool insulation.
The interior of your house shines with a clean aesthetic; the walls are given a sophisticated finish with finely-textured plaster rendering with plaster profile.
Just one more step...
The high-quality inside doors of your HUF house are produced in-house and they boast an extremely high-quality structure along with particularly elegant architecture. Accordingly, frames and doors are flush on both sides. This innovation adds yet another detail to perfect the clean look of HUF architecture. One special feature is the solid block frame hardwood construction. The high-quality surface is painted in the HUF colour white.
Incidentally, the exquisite door elements that HUF HAUS uses are the product of skilled craftsmanship and are unique in combination with the timber-frame construction. They can even accommodate the installation of all-glass doors if you require even greater transparency.
The high-quality door elements have a door panel height of 2.11 m. All doors on the ground and top floors are fitted with a glass clerestory reaching to the ceiling/roof. This results in modern, fully consistent architecture and a contemporary aesthetic.
Interior architecture highlight
The HUF staircase, designed as a single or platform stairway, consists of stringers, mortised steps and a banister with rounded handrail made of laminated timber. The banister panelling is designed in transparent safety glass. All wooden parts are varnished in HUF colours. The stairs and landing are covered with your choice of brand-name carpet, at no extra charge.
The staircases for your house are built by HUF HAUS with proven quality craftsmanship. They perform a major design role within the interior architecture concept.

Environmentally friendly energy
The environment is full of energy that mostly goes unused. Using heat pump technology, some of this energy can be collected and then used economically as heat for heating or hot water supply. With environmental legislation becoming increasingly strict for new buildings, it has become vital to use renewable energy from the outset.
This is a trend that we are supporting to the fullest with our environmentally friendly heat pump systems. The cleanest natural energy, and the one with the greatest yield, is the solar energy that is stored in the earth, in groundwater and in the air. Using intelligent heat pump technology enables this energy to be used effectively in your HUF house.
Your heating system – comprising a modern air-water heat pump and underfloor heating – is equipped with a well-insulated heating buffer tank with ample capacity to heat the floors.
All the electrical cabling for the heating system is included in the HUF HAUS services. The same applies for connecting the hot-water and circulation lines to the water heater, including circulation pump with timer switch.
One of the HUF house’s outstanding architectural features is the fully glazed gable with typical laminated timber post-and-beam structure.
The glass elements that extend to floor depth combine to form the transparent gable facade. In accordance with your floor plan and the corresponding structural engineering, your house can be planned and constructed with an all-glass gable – at no extra charge.
What’s more, the glazing of your timber-frame house is designed as triple glazing with quality-controlled thermal insulation glass. Particularly in winter, the large gable glazing is able to harness the heat of the sun when it is low in the sky. If you wish, both gable views can be designed as all-glass gables.
Characteristics of the external glazing:
- U-value: 0.5 W/m²K in accordance with DIN EN 673
- G-value: 0.48 in accordance with DIN EN 410
- Sound resistance: R'w 41dB
Opening up the living space
Floor-to-ceiling glazing and clerestory
The frameless glazing of the external wall structure that extends all the way to the floor creates a harmonious connection between the outside and inside living area and is included in the price of the house. The number of glass elements is based on the floor plan details of the latest HUF HAUS compendium.
The unique clerestory glazing between frame and ceiling provides an additional level of lighting. It enables tilting clerestory windows to be installed below the ceiling for ventilation without draughts. This additional lighting provides more natural light throughout the day even when installed above closed wall panels.
It also gives you more freedom in your planning, especially for smaller rooms such as guest lavatories and storage rooms. Ventilation and lighting are provided without wasting any precious space.
