HUF HAUS triumphs at the Guildford Design Awards

HUF HAUS has been crowned winner at this year’s prestigious Guildford Design Awards

HUF HAUS has been crowned WINNER at this year’s prestigious Guildford Design Awards, an event that celebrates outstanding achievement in architectural and urban design across the borough.

Initially shortlisted in the Individual House (New Build) category, our project went on to secure the top honour, winning New Build – Modern Method of Construction.

Congratulations to architect Peter Huf, owners Karin and Andrew Jackson, and whole UK HUF HAUS Team!

What Inspired the Award-Winning HUF HAUS Design?

The journey began with a clear and meaningful brief: to create a home that supports a holistic, nature-connected lifestyle in the later stages of life. Guided by this vision, the design embraced the principles of biophilic design—an approach that deepens the bond between people and the natural world. With a wealth of research highlighting its positive effects on wellbeing, stress reduction, and cognitive function, biophilic thinking became the foundation of this unique home.

Peter Huf designed this house from the inside out, starting with the heart of the home – the kitchen, dining area, lounge, and study – and established an intrinsic link to the outdoors. The floor-to-ceiling glass walls and strategic orientation to the East, South, and West, invite natural light throughout the day and place the surrounding landscape at the heart of the living experience.

This is a home that feels truly immersed in nature, and we are honoured that the Guildford Design Awards have recognised this unique and distinctive design.
