A family residence
in a class of its own

At high speed a tube slide takes us down to the ground floor – the light-flooded living area with an open kitchen is our destination. The classic staircase? Well, there is one, in addition to the elevator with a panoramic cabin, which connects the four impressive floors. What may sound like a fairy-tale to some has become a reality in this very special post-and-beam villa that belongs to a family of four living in Bavaria: A tailor-made house with staggered monopitch roofs featuring one highlight after another.

An impressive twenty meters lie between the street level and the ridge line of the modern single-family home, which the HUF architects harmoniously integrated into the hillside. If you approach the house from the driveway, designed to match the course of the terrain, you will first reach the underground car park with eight parking spaces. To go up from here one can simply walk up the stairs or comfortably use the elevator.

Function and design are sophisticatedly intertwined in this project. In terms of technology the highlight house therefore also has a lot to offer– most of it, however, is hidden invisibly in the post-and-beam construction. The smart home is controlled by means of a KNX installation that networks all relevant components in the building with each other.

A fairy-tale has become reality

Continue up to the ground floor and get to the vivid heart of the house. The open kitchen with pantry, the dining area below the open gallery and the cosy living room with fireplace all offer distant views into the valley. When designing the interior, the owners opted for a smooth fleece wallpaper instead of the classic textured plaster and the kitchen even offers an area with chalkboard paint. The rooms are characterized by smooth transitions, floor-to-ceiling glass fronts and wide visual axes – a very special feeling that is only brought to life by the close connection between architecture and nature.

On the opposite side of the spacious foyer, the entrepreneurial couple has opted for two study rooms and a shower room. In front of the entrance door, you will also discover the stainless-steel slide, which makes its way down from the first floor with a turn of 270°. Behind it is the cloakroom with a built-in unit in which jackets, shoes or swimming utensils are waiting to be used. This comes in handy since the lively garden with a natural pool, cosy wooden veranda, sandbox, trampoline and climbing frame is located only a stone's throw away.

The green paradise not only makes children's hearts beat faster, it also enables adults to relax in and around the pool or use the direct access via the external staircase to the sauna on the upper floor. In addition, elegant balconies with clamped glass railings on the gable and eaves sides extend the living experience into the outdoor area – so there is a sunny or shady outdoor spot at any time of the day.
